Last night after my long long day of classes, Vaneshia and I wanted to either make cookies or churros so we stopped by the store that we were told had churros and then we asked someone there where they were, and the person said they didn't have any. So we sadly walked out with our churro dreams crushed, and took the bus home. We asked Laura if we could make cookies, and she said not today (meaning Friday) because she just cleaned the kitchen, so we sadly had our baking dreams crushed too. We ate dinner which was rice, and this spicy Mexican type of pork with veggies and a sauce and then started working on homework. Even though I was in class all day, I thought I better do some homework since I have quite a bit of it to do this weekend unfortunately.
Between yesterday and today, I got one assignment completed I think, until I ran into confusion if I needed to do another part, which was when I emailed the professor and gave up for the night. haha. Enough about homework though because that's not even interesting.
Today I saw the movie (yes, the second movie this week) American Hustle because my friend Judith had scored some free tickets for it. And when you are handed free movie tickets, you see the movie, whatever it is. It was a decent movie, not my favorite and I probably wouldn't see it again either, but hey, it was free. I went to the movies with Judith (from Chile), Bruna (from Brazil), Amelie (from Germany), and Jaimie and India (from the US). After the movie, we walked the little mall that the cinemark was in and then we walked to Plaza del Parque, which is another mall right down the road where we met our friend Miguel (from Spain) and we walked around at this mall too. After that little adventure, we all went home, and Laura made me dinner. (It's so nice having dinner made when you arrive at home). I had chicken with rice and these little fried potato things. It was good of course. Laura is such an amazing cook and baker. Laura takes pastelería classes on the weekends (cake making and decorating). She even brought me home a cupcake, which I took a picture of.
I am very glad that I went out with my friends today because after my long day on Friday, I was dreading all the homework I have and was thinking that I will have to stay here and work on it all weekend, but then this morning I thought, "I'm only going to be in Mexico for such a short amount of time, and homework isn't going to matter in the end. I'm not going to make any friends or improve my Spanish by staying inside doing homework all day, and I'm not going to be able to share the love of Jesus with others if I do homework at home all day." That was when I decided that I'm going to enjoy myself and hang out with friends during the day on the weekends and then work on homework at night. There's more to life than just working on homework, because in 1 year will I care what grade I got on an assignment here? Nope.
Therefore, tomorrow I'm going to eat lunch with Amelie and Julia (from Germany) and we are going to go to el centro together. :)
The cupcake that Laura made for me :)
Hasta luego!
That cupcake looks good!! And you're right Leah. You need to enjoy yourself and not work on homework all the time. Love you!
