Day 2 in Querétaro

Last night I went to bed at like 9:15 pm which is the earliest I've gone to bed in I have no idea how long and then I woke up at 8:30 and Laura made me breakfast. I had sope, which is a corn tortilla made with frijoles, chorizo and cheese. It was really good and I also had some muskmelon and banana too. After that we went to where abuelita used to live in el centro. She was moving a bunch of stuff out of her house so we went there for a little bit and then Laura showed me the outside of el tec. de monterrey. She also showed me (by car) the way to school. She says it's going to take like 20-25 minutes, so hopefully it doesn't take me any longer than that. After that Laura and I went to visit other international students living around here. They live one street over. 3 are from Quebec and 1 is from North Carolina. They are all really nice and together the 5 of us (Laura went home) walked to the school, around the school, and then walked back. I timed how long it took for us to walk from the school back to my house and I'm pretty sure it was 45 minutes. I really hope that is wrong though because that's a long walk to take 2x or more a day. It's really hot out today too. It only says it's 72 but it feels  a lot warmer in the sun. While I was hanging out with my new friends walking around we spoke spanish the whole time, which I am so glad we did. My goal is to not speak any english with people while I'm here unless obviously I don't know the word. Tomorrow is orientation day and I'm going to the boys' house and we are going to walk together. (The 2 girls live together in a house with a family and the 2 boys live together in a house with a family). Also, I found out that a girl from Harvard is going to be living with me for one month! I found that exciting so I hope she's nice and that we can speak in spanish together too. I just finished eating lunch which is their main meal of the day and they eat it around 2 or 3 pm. We had this mexican pasta stuff. The pasta looked like little beans, but it wasn't and there was of course some type of homemade sauce on it. We also had soup, it had potatoes in it, spices obviously, and meat. That was good too. And lastly, we had more corn tortillas. I only took like 3 more pictures today, so not a lot. But I'll try to post a whole bunch of them once I actually take them. Also, the driving here is crazy. It seems like people go however fast they want and don't really use turn signals either. There are also a lot of speed bumps on like every road you come to as well, and traffic is never ending, but that's to be expected because I'm in the city. Anyways, that's all for now. It's supposed to be "siesta" time (nap time) because people take a nap after they eat lunch here.
Hasta luego!
