Getting to Querétaro

My first flight was supposed to leave at 6:45 a.m. but of course it was freezing outside and the tow bar thing that the little truck had to pull the plane out with was frozen so we ended up leaving an hour later than scheduled but that didn't matter for my layover in Dallas thank goodness. Once I got to Dallas, I thought it was going to be so confusing with the sky shuttle thing, but it was actually really easy to use! I ended up using tit twice because my gate got changed. So no problems in Dallas. Then I got on board to my flight to Querétaro and that was good too. Both flights were like 2.5 hours, which isn't bad at all. I was a bit nervous using the taxi to get to my host mom's house but it ended up being just fine. This was the shortest customs thing I have ever been through in my entire life. then I got a taxi ticket and got in the taxi. It was like a 20-25 minute ride, but it went well. The taxi driver was asking me a bunch of questions and I probably had to say "perdón" like 10 times because he was just talking so fast. It will take some getting used to with all this Spanish. Thank goodness my host mom is so so great! I am living with her and her mother. a.k.a. "abuelita." Oh and their dog Sofia and their bird. I forgot what the bird's name is. It starts with a "P" and he's small and bright yellow. The houses here and even the streets are so much different than any streets and houses I've ever seen. There's not any carpet in this house, just all tile. And their kitchen has a door on it, like it's a separate room. I'll post pictures of everything I'm talking about later. My host mom Laura already made me a meal. I had mexican rice and a type of quesadilla with jamón, queso, and mustard. It was good. Sadly, I got full so quick, but it's probably all the anxiety in my stomach. Laura continues to tell me just to relax because I'm here at home now. She's so nice. :) Tomorrow we are going "adventuring" which basically means we are going to walk around and she's going to show me the way to school and the city and stuff and let me meet other internationals that are living nearby. It will be really fun! Another thing I really like about Laura is that she always speaks in spanish with me and talks slow so that I can understand her. She really wants me to become fluent, so hopefully the only english I'll be speaking on this trip is on this blog. I think that's it for now. Like I said, I'll post pictures later on when I actually have a few.
Hasta luego!
